Lophosoria quadripinnata

Not a true tree fern, but none the less, a very handsome and dramatic evergreen fern
from Central and South America.
The broad, triangular fronds, are very large, reaching 10' in length or more, and have a
striking glaucous coloration on the undersurface. At time of writing, the fronds on my
plant pictured here are 6`7".

The trunk can be creeping to erect, up to 15' high, and is covered in long brown hairs.
Plants from southern Chile are more cold hardy but rarely seem to form a trunk.
Even without a trunk though, this is a very beautiful fern.
